Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Walter Kueffer from Windermere, Florida, will remain in-state to swim and study at Florida State University beginning in the fall of 2025. At the time of his commitment, he wrote on social media:

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to pursue my athletic and academic careers at The Florida State University. I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches, for guiding me through this journey of mine. I would like to thank the coaches at FSU for providing me with this amazing opportunity. GO NOLES”

Kueffer comes from an athletic family. His mother was a cheerleader at Pitt and his father played football in high school, for which he received multiple D2 offers. Outside of the pool, Kueffer spends a lot of time on the golf course.

He attended Windermere High School and swam for the Wolverines in the Florida High School Class 4A Swimming and Diving Championships. As a junior, he won the 50 free (20.71) and swam on all 3 relays (20.72 leadoff on the 4×50 free, 23.38 leadoff backstroke on the 4×50 medley, and 45.87 leadoff on the 4×100 free). This past season, he swam the 50/100 individual events and was runner-up in both with PBs of 20.16 and 44.31, respectively.

Kueffer swims year-round with Southwest Stars Swim Club. In October, he posted 4 new PBs at the SLAC IMX Challenge: 200 back (1:53.72), 200 breast (2:11.77), 200 fly (1:53.34), and 200 IM (1:53.58). He added 5 lifetime bests at the Florida Swimming LSC Spring Senior Championships, including the 50 free (20.15), 200 free (1:38.16), 100 back (50.02), 100 breast (57.99), and 100 fly (48.45), while winning the 50 free and placing 2nd in the 100 free.

This summer, he updated his LCM times in the 50 free (23.30), 100 free (51.56), 200 free (1:54.15), 400 free (4:10.21), 50 fly (25.31), and 100 fly (55.89).

He will join Aidan Siers, Alex Heinrich, Dominik Kaiser, Ethan Silver, Gabe Roy, Matt Taylor, and Thomas Matheson in FSU’s class of 2029.
