ATTICA, N.Y. – Hundreds gathered in Attica to honor Sgt. Thomas Sanfratello of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department. Sanfratello was killed in the line of duty in March 2024.
A memorial ride was held in his memory and was open to everyone. There were about 83 motorcycles and 14 cars, along with state police, several area police departments, and sheriff’s offices.
Participants were encouraged to donate either cash or toys, specifically Hot Wheels.
“Tom growing up was always into his Hot Wheels, and from what we understand, in his desk drawer in his office, he kept Hot Wheels in his drawer in case a child came in and was given a hard time, he had Hot Wheels in his drawer to give out. Tom collected Hot Wheels into his adulthood,” Sanfratello’s sister Michelle Panasiewicz, said.
Friends and family of Sanfratello expressed their hope for the memorial ride to continue for years to come.
