Mizzou coach Eli Drinkwitz met with reporters on Sunday afternoon in Columbia as the Tigers prepare for the start of fall camp.
Drinkwitz opened up his media session by discussion Mizzou’s “secret sauce” — continuity on the coaching staff. The Tigers bring back both coordinators this season, which was not the case a season ago as they hired a new defensive staff after the 2023 season.
Drinkwitz said that continuity has helped the Tigers be more ready for fall camp despite a high number of incoming transfers.
“Very fortunate for us to have been able to carry over our coordinators and our culture staff,” he said. “I think that’s really helped us get acclimated to the new players. This is the most transfers we’ve been able to bring in since we’ve been here, which I think is kind of the new norm for college football.
“But I do think continuity has been a little bit of our secret sauce. So, again, really excited about that.”

As for Mizzou’s roster, the Tigers did sign 22 transfers this past offseason, including quarterback Beau Pribula, edge Damon Wilson Jr. and receiver Kevin Coleman Jr., among others.
Returning production is a concern for Mizzou, at least on the offensive side of the ball. Per Bill Connelly’s post-spring update, Mizzou ranks 101st in offensive returning production this year. That’s not too surprising given the departures of Brady Cook, Luther Burden, Theo Wease and others, but it’s a challenge the Tigers will have to deal with this season.
Perhaps continuity on the coaching staff will be a key for the Tigers. Mizzou will open the 2025 season against Central Arkansas on Aug. 28.
