A woman was shot and killed near the entrance to a Marriott Hotel in a Chicago suburb late Friday, authorities said.
Schaumburg police said the incident unfolded around 10:15 p.m. at the Marriott Hotel at 50 N. Martingale, where a woman had suffered a single gunshot wound.
The shooting happened in the parking lot near the entrance to the hotel, according to police.
The woman was taken to Lutheran General Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries, according to authorities.
One person was taken into custody at the scene and the police department said the gun used in the shooting was recovered.
“The victim and offender are known to each other, and no other persons were injured because of this incident,” Schaumburg police said in a release. “There is no threat to the public and this was determined to be an isolated occurrence.”
Authorities said an investigation was ongoing Saturday morning.
