Arizona Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen said on Friday that while he has been getting the most calls on players with expiring contracts, he has received calls for players with multiple years of control.
Hazen added those talks usually get shut down when he brings up the haul it would take to trade those players, such as Ketel Marte, Corbin Carroll, Gabriel Moreno, Geraldo Perdomo and Ryne Nelson.
Marte is not untouchable in trade talks, however, according to Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro, but Arizona is not looking to trade him at the moment. It would take a true haul to include him in any deal.

“In almost every conversation, it’s ‘Would you guys talk about these guys at all?'” Hazen said. “If I say, ‘Depends on what you’re talking about. It would be a haul.’ That usually shuts the conversations down pretty quickly. So the majority of the conversations that are real conversations in my mind surround the guys that are coming up.
“Most times at the deadline, any time you’re talking about controllable guys, you can have some conversations around them sometimes but everyone just says this is something that doesn’t have to happen right now and we can kick it to the offseason if it’s something we want to talk about.”
