BELMONT, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A large police presence was seen in downtown Belmont Tuesday after a reported shooting along North Main Street, according to Gaston County Emergency Communications.
Belmont officers responded to the scene Tuesday afternoon following an emergency call. BPD said the incident happened at a residence on North Main Street, right in the heart of downtown.
Police said the strong response was due to the nature of the initial report, but said, "There is no threat to the public."
At this time, it's unclear how many people may have been hurt, and details remain limited. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
