The series follows the lives of neighbours on Latimer Crescent, with a particular focus on the Baird and Whyte families, which are full of big personalities and (somewhat) friendly rivalries.
Co-creator Simon Carlyle unexpectedly passed away in August 2023, aged only 48, with co-star Doon Mackichan saying in December of that year that the sitcom would be "ending for now" in the wake of the enormous loss (via Instagram).
However, Carlyle's longtime writing partner and Two Doors Down co-creator Gregor Sharp is now confirmed to be bringing the sitcom back, with a new episode set to premiere this Christmas, ending what will have been a two-year break.
"Christmas is a time for getting together with friends and family and then becoming low level irritated by them so it feels like they're the perfect group to celebrate the season with."
In attendance for the yuletide celebrations will be Cathy (Mackichan), Christine (Elaine C Smith) Colin (Jonathan Watson), Alan (Graeme Stevely), Michelle (Joy McAvoy), Ian (Jamie Quinn) and his fiancé Gordon (Kieran Hodgson).
"Gregor and the gang bring the warm laughs, sly digs and brilliantly petty moments that make Two Doors Down such a cracking comedy. Expect it to sparkle on BBC iPlayer and BBC One faster than Cathy can pop a prosecco."
