The SEC was extremely well-represented at the 2025 MLB Draft.
The two-day draft concluded on Monday evening with Rounds 4-20 and SEC programs absolutely cleaned up with regards to having the most selections. Of the 10 programs who had 8 or more draftees, 7 reside in the SEC: Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Texas A&M.

The Hogs made it all the way to the national semifinals but came up short against eventual-champion LSU. Gage Wood, who threw a no hitter during the College World Series, was Arkansas’s first pick in this year’s draft.
LSU had 9 players picked off of its National Championship winning team, including ace Kade Anderson who went No. 3 overall to the Seattle Mariners.
Tennessee also had 9 players picked, including ace Liam Doyle at No. 5 to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals also picked Doyle’s college teammate, Tanner Franklin, a couple of rounds later.
Oklahoma also had a great draft with 8 selections, including No. 15 overall pick Kyson Witherspoon. His brother, fellow Sooner Malachi Witherspoon, was also picked on Day 1 of the draft. Not included in that total is Oklahoma commit Eli Willits, who was picked No. 1 overall out of high school and is expected to forego his college commitment.
