Chicago police have issued a community alert, warning those in River North of recent violent robberies targeting “intoxicated” people leaving bars and restaurants around closing time.
The alert, sent Sunday evening, details at least four instances of the crime, dating back to June 16.
In each of the incidents, the suspects befriend intoxicated people who are leaving bars and restaurants in the early morning hours, police said, with suspects “chatting up” victims in a friendly manner.
The suspects then forcibly and violently rob the victims, the alert said, with suspects beating the victims with their hands and fists.
According to police, the incidents took place on the following dates in the following locations:
400 block of North Wabash, Monday, June 16, 2025, at 1:00 a.m. 600 block of North Dearborn, Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 3:00 a.m. 600 block of North Wabash, Monday, June 28, 2025, at 12:00 a.m. 400 block of North State, Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 2:00 a.m.According to police, the suspects including one to three people between the ages of 20 and 40 years old.
