The Hillsborough Police Department shared details of two people involved with the gun violence during a Fourth of July house party that left one person shot and injured.
A release on Friday said investigators are asking the public for information on 33-year-old Lewis White of Hillsborough who is sought on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and going armed to the terror of the people. Additionally, police arrested and charged 60-year-old Diana Jones — who investigators say is a resident connected to the incident — with possession of a firearm by a felon and aiding and abetting possession of a firearm by a felon.
Police said Jones was arrested on Friday, and ultimately released from custody on a written promise to appear in court on the charges.
White, meanwhile, is at large and the Hillsborough Police Department said anyone who may have information on his location is “urged not to approach him” and call 911.
The shooting took place at a residence in the 500 block of Riddle Avenue, which is part of Hillsborough’s Fairview neighborhood. The call for law enforcement came just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, with officers finding a 33-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment and the would was determined to not be life-threatening.
Friday’s update said Hillsborough Police’s investigation is still ongoing and additional arrests may be forthcoming.
