Joey Chestnut is ready to conquer the world.
The competitive eating legend is on a high, having recently made his eagerly-anticipated return to Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest in New York City.
Chestnut made a triumphant return to Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest this yearGettyChestnut skipped last year’s battle for the coveted Mustard Belt amid a contract dispute, having struck a deal with a competing brand, Impossible Foods.
In his absence, Patrick Bertoletti took the crown, eating 58 hot dogs in 10 minutes.
But after a year away, ‘Joey Jaws’ came back with a bang on the Fourth of July, and blew his competition out of the water with his traditional method of the two weiners at a time, followed by two buns.
Chestnut scoffed down an incredible 70.5 hot dogs in front of a raucous Coney Island crowd, scooping the Mustard Belt for a record 17th time.
His effort came close to beating his own top score of 76 franks, which was set at the competition in 2021, proving the Indiana native is back and better than ever.
Now, having also shattered a world record on a Netflix special, he wants to go international.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Chestnut explained that it’s not just hot dogs that he loves to gobble up, and shared his plans to smash the ultimate record in Japan.
“I get cravings for tacos, for prime rib. I love a good steak,” he told Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara on The Sports Bar.
“I think I’m going to top out at about 80 hot dogs on the Fourth of July, that’s kind of the goal there.
“But there are certain (other) foods that I want to hold records for.

Indian food, I’d like to get some curry. I want to kind of travel, and dominate other foods.”
As well as setting out a battle plan for taking his talents across the world, Chestnut also shared some tips for Cundy, who attempted to scoff some hot dogs of his own live on air.
“They look gnarly,” he said, taking a peek at Cundy’s ‘cold’ buns, before explaining how he got his own throat so wide.
“It’s just practice, you’ve got to time yourself, and count how many chews, bites and swallows it takes.
“It’s like running, you don’t want to go out too hard at the beginning if you’re a marathon runner.
“Pace yourself, find that rhythm… and make sure you have water.”
Chestnut cheered on Cundy as he attempted to scoff some hot dogs on airtalkSPORT The talkSPORT host, however, struggled with two hot dogstalkSPORTChestnut’s advice, though, didn’t serve Cundy too well, as he struggled with two ‘stone cold’ hot dogs.
“It’s not cooked!” the former Premier League defender yelled into his mic, before stuffing the food into his mouth.
“You don’t want to choke… no talking, more eating,” Coach Joey replied, watching the hilarious action unfold.
It’s fair to say that we probably won’t see Cundy on stage at Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest anytime soon, even with Chestnut in his corner.
Joey Jaws, though, has dreams of one day taking on Usain Bolt.
The idea of him racing the fastest man alive – -with the added stipulation that both have to eat a hot dog before starting — has recently gone viral.
“Of course I’d do it,” Chestnut told USA Today, before suggesting he could run the eight-time gold medal-winning sprinter ‘really close’.
“I forget that some people aren’t the fastest eaters. So if there was a judge that didn’t let him start until he swallowed the hot dog…”
