As the road to the Ryder Cup inches closer, the American is taking advantage of legendary caddie Billy Foster at this week’s Scottish Open.

But for many one eye is unsurprisingly on the Ryder Cup and the Leeds-based caddie has been subject of one or two cheeky ‘traitor’ jibes due to his work with the American.
However, Foster was quick to set the record straight on talkSPORT Breakfast regarding a scenario that could see him work with Morikawa should he qualify to represent Team USA this September.
“I’m working this week and next week, it’s only a two-week gig with Collin,” Foster confirmed.
“If by some minor miracle he wins The Open next week and offers me the job, I’d have to say ‘well I’d love to work with you but I could not work the Ryder Cup for America’. Let’s put that on record right now.
“I’ve done 16 Ryder Cups, you bleed Europe. It would be like me scoring a hattrick for Man United against Leeds.”
After clearing the air on any possible confusion over his loyalty, Foster heaped praise of Morikawa.
The pair opened up with a two under 68 on Thursday at North Berwick and tee off the second round on Friday.
“He’s one of the best iron players out there right now,” Foster added. “He’s had issues on the greens with the putting but he looked pretty solid yesterday.
“A great opening tee shot but I may have played the next when he topped it 100 yards.

Asked about his role in helping golfers overcome the mental challenges of the game, Foster admits that timing and understanding their needs at any given moment is crucial to being a successful caddie.
“I’ve worked so so many types of Psychopaths,” Foster joked.
“They’re all nutters, every one of them but yeah, you can obviously adjust the mood swings and situations change.“It’s part of the job you know you’re the navigator to the rally driver really and you provide the information.
“You have to know when to say the right thing and when to keep quiet but you’ve always got to try to get them in a positive frame of mind.
“The unexpected can happen at any time. A strong mental attitude is a massive part of the game.”
