Asia Cup 2025 in massive doubt now

While the ACC confirmed that the meeting will go ahead as planned, the absence of two co-host nations—India and Sri Lanka—puts the fate of the tournament in jeopardy. The Asia Cup is tentatively scheduled to begin on September 5 in a T20 format. India’s decision not to attend comes in the backdrop of political tension with Bangladesh, which recently prompted the BCCI to push its tour of the country from August this year to September 2026.

According to reports, sponsors and broadcasters are in a bind as a result of the BCCI’s silence regarding the Asia Cup’s hosting. An existing agreement that forbids Pakistan from visiting India until 2027 as a result of India’s refusal to visit Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy. The report claims that the PCB agreed to a hybrid model in which India’s matches would be moved to Dubai in exchange for Pakistan not sending a team to India for any international competition.

To find out if India still plans to host the tournament, the ACC has already formally questioned the BCCI. There has been no response yet.
