Over 400 DIA flights delayed as thunderstorms roll across Front Range ...Middle East

More than 400 flights were delayed at Denver International Airport on Wednesday as scattered thunderstorms and showers moved across the Front Range.

Flights headed to several East Coast airports are delayed by a range of 20 minutes to nearly 2 hours, including Logan International Airport in Boston; Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.; and Kennedy International Airport in New York City, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

There were 434 delayed flights and five canceled flights at DIA as of 12:30 p.m., according to the flight tracking website FlightAware. 

Southwest Airlines had 176 delays, while United reported 131 delayed flights and SkyWest had 69 delays.

Scattered showers and wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible across metro Denver but should dissipate at the airport by 5 p.m. before another round moves through on Friday afternoon, National Weather Service forecasters said.
