Arsenal legend Jordan Nobbs is set to continue her glittering football career with Newcastle United, talkSPORT understands.

The 71-cap England international left Aston Villa at the end of the 2024/25 Women’s Super League season.

Born in Stockton-on-Tees, Nobbs will now return to the North East where she started her career.

Newcastle are on the up in the women’s game and became the first professional third-tier side in 2023, earning promotion to the Championship at the end of that season.

Last year they impressed again, finishing fifth in their first campaign in the second tier.

They also smashed their attendance record by hosting 38,502 fans at St James’ Park when they took on rivals Sunderland.

And landing Nobbs suggests the Magpies, who usually play at Kingston Park, mean business as they attempt to win promotion to the WSL.

Already at the club are former England international Demi Stokes and England Under-23 midfielder Elysia Boddy.

They also have a host of players with WSL experience, including Shania Hayles, Emma Kelly, Freya Gregory, and Deanna Cooper.

Meanwhile, Lois Joel is currently representing Wales at Euro 2025.

The 32-year-old began her professional career with Sunderland in 2008, while she also spent time with Middlesbrough as a youngster.

After making an impact with the Black Cats, which included winning the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division and reaching the 2009 FA Women’s Cup final, she was awarded a string of individual honours.

Winning the 2010 FA Young Player of the Year was a further springboard and she then joined Arsenal.

With the Gunners, Nobbs was a stunning success, winning three WSL titles in 12 years, as well as four FA Cups.

During that spell, she was twice named in the PFA Team of the Year and named the 2016 FA Player of the Year and 2017 FA Players’ Player of the Year.

She left Arsenal in January 2023 for Villa and in October 2024 she broke the record for the most WSL appearances made.

Her 193rd match saw her beat Chelsea and Wales legend Sophie Ingle’s previous record, while in total she has now made 208.

On the international stage, Nobbs featured at the 2015 Women’s World Cup but injury cut short her tournament as the Lionesses finished third.

She was sadly ruled out of the 2019 World Cup due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, and would also miss the 2022 European Championship, this time to a knee ligament strain.

She did, though, return to the fold at the 2023 World Cup where England lost in the final to Spain.

Meanwhile, Nobbs is currently hosting the The Full-Time Phone-In on talkSPORT with ex-England and Tottenham striker Darren Bent after every Lionesses game at Euro 2025.
