The Wimbledon men’s singles semi finals take place on Friday afternoon, starting with two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz taking on Taylor Fritz, who will be taking part in his first final at SW19.

Alcaraz heads into his semi final on a 23-match winning streak, as well as a 19-match winning run at Wimbledon, having not last a match at the Championships since 2022, making the world number two favourite .

The 22-year-old hasn’t been at his very best so far this tournament, dropping four sets en route to the quarter final including needing a fifth-set to beat 38-year-old Fabio Fognini in his first round clash.

The five-time Grand Slam winner and two-time Wimbledon champion did save his best performance of the Championships for his quarter final clash against Cameron Norrie, dropping just eight games en route to a convincing straight sets victory.

Standing in the Spaniard’s way of a third-straight final is semi final debutant Taylor Fritz, who will be competing in his second ever Grand Slam semi having reached the final of his home US Open last year.

The world number five needed five sets to navigate his opening two matches of the tournament, and is yet to win a match without dropping a set aside from his fourth round win in which his opponent retired hurt early in the second.

The second semi final is the standout one which sees world number one Jannik Sinner take on seven-time Wimbledon champion and 24-time Slam winner Novak Djokovic.

The Italian hadn’t dropped a set in the tournament prior to his fourth round clash against Grigor Dimitrov, who retired hurt from the match while being two sets to the good.

The three-time Slam winner managed to dust himself down to beat Ben Shelton in straight sets in his quarter final, putting him through to his second Wimbledon semi final, two years after losing in straight sets to Djokovic in his previous last four appearance.

Djokovic reached his 52nd Grand Slam semi final by beating Sinner’s compatriot Flavio Cobolli in four sets.

The Serb is looking for just one more Grand Slam title to pull clear of Margaret Court’s tally of 24 and become the sport’s most decorated player, and is also on the hunt to match Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon men’s singles titles.

The now 38-year-old has dropped three sets in the Championships so far, but has lost his last five matches against Sinner, though has won both of their previous meetings on grass.
