The incident occurred when a LeRoy officer attempted to stop a damaged car without a license plate. The vehicle fled, leading to a chase reaching speeds of up to 100 mph.

Police said the suspect forced several cars off State Route 237 during the pursuit. Officers managed to box the car in near State Route 33, where the suspect rammed a police cruiser.
