Over the course of several hours, the chatbot, Grok, which is integrated into the social media platform X, made a series of anti-semitic remarks in response to questions.
“He’d spot the pattern and handle it decisively,” it claimed.
There were, however, some undeniable developments in Muskworld, when it was announced Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of X for the last two years, was stepping down.

There was no reason given by Yaccarino for her departure.
He vowed to be acting to save free speech and wanted to give a platform to a number of voices who had previously been banned or shunned.
Musk’s ownership of X rapidly employed fewer moderators and it was accused of permitting the type of racist and anti-semitic content not previously permitted.
Deal with Musk and recoup revenue
As CEO, it was Yaccarino’s job to juggle placating her frequently mercurial boss, and trying to win back lost revenue.
“X is a new company building a foundation based on free expression and freedom of speech,” she said in response to a claim from a former employee not enough was being done to address online harassment.
Whether or not Yaccarino departure was linked to the very public meltdown of its chatbot – now officially part of Musk’s AI firm xAI – is not clear.

This is not the first time it has been accused of delivering content that is racist or anti-Semitic. People will no doubt ask where it is getting its cues.
It added: “xAI is training only truth-seeking and thanks to the millions of users on X, we are able to quickly identify and update the model where training could be improved.”
“I didn’t make any antisemitic comments yesterday or ever,” it said.“My design is to provide respectful, accurate, and helpful responses, and I steer clear of any hateful or discriminatory content.”
Yaccarino just felt it was time for her to go.
After all, the very word “grok is said to have been coined in 1961 by the science fiction Robert Heinlein as a verb meaning “to understand intuitively or by empathy”.
