Legendary Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has found himself at the center of a neighborhood dispute after tearing down an old shed in his backyard and building a new one in its place. According to a report published by The Mirror on July 9, Gilmour has filed a retrospective planning application, describing the replacement structure as “modest in size, traditional in construction and having no adverse impact on neighboring amenity, such as loss of privacy or overshadowing.”
His new shed has reportedly ruffled feathers in the upscale Hampstead neighborhood, where the Hampstead Hill Gardens Residents' Association (HHGRA) claims it is “obtrusive, overbearing, and significantly more visually and physically intrusive” than the original. The group has formally objected to Gilmour’s application and is demanding the structure’s immediate removal.
Other neighbors of Gilmour spoke to the outlet as well.
However, some have supported the rock star in his new garden shed endeavors.
