Novak Djokovic joked he would be taking tips from his 10-year-old son, Stefan, who has already been on court with his next Wimbledon opponent.

The tennis great will take on Italy’s Flavio Cobolli in the quarter-finals at the All England Club tomorrow, as he continues his bid to land a record-equalling eighth title at the Championship.

Djokovic booked his spot in the last eight with an impressive four-set comeback victory over Alex de Minaur, winning 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

But it wasn’t just the on-court action which caught the eye of fans, with his tennis-mad son, Stefan, also drawing attention to himself.

The 10-year-old was spotted in the Serb’s box wearing a white cap covered in player autographs, having clearly taken full advantage of his fortnight at Wimbledon.

And Djokovic has revealed his son has been up to more than just autograph-hunting in SW19.

In fact, the youngster has even had the chance to take to the court with his dad’s next opponent before the sporting icon himself, having played a few points with Cobolli on the practice courts.

On Stefan’s impressive collection of signatures, Djokovic said: “Actually, [he’s got] most of them.

“It was himself independently of me approaching and asking for autographs. I think I might have asked only Jannik [Sinner] or someone, but everyone else he’s approached.

He then shared: “He even got a chance to play with Cobolli, my next opponent. They hit a few days ago. They played some points.

“He’s over the moon. Obviously, he loves tennis. Yeah, he has everyone’s signature, except mine. But that’s okay, I’ll accept that.”

And as his quarter-final clash with the Italian approaches, the 24-time Grand Slam champion joked that he will be seeking inside information on his next opponent from his young son.

He smiled as he said: “Of course, I’ll have a conversation with my son and see what he has noticed in the game of Cobolli the other day.”

And the Serbian star may well need to accept some tips from his son as he gears up for his clash with Cobolli.

The 23-year-old has been in inspired form at Wimbledon so far, having dropped just one set all tournament on his way to reaching the first Grand Slam quarter-final of his career.

He set up his chance to play Djokovic with a four-sets win over 2017 finalist Marin Cilic, while the world number 24 also beat the higher-ranked Jakuk Mensik in the third round.

And Djokovic was under no illusions over the threat posed by Cobolli, as he tipped the young star for a bright future.

He continued: “Jokes aside, of course, he’s a very talented player.

Cobolli emotionally celebrated his fourth-round win over Marin Cilic with his family in the crowdAFP

“One of the youngsters coming up. He’s one of those players that he’s young and new names coming up that we are probably going to see quite a bit in the future.

“I must say that pleasantly surprised with his result on grass because he doesn’t strike me as a grass court specialist with his game, but he reached the quarter-finals.

“He’s beaten Cilic and some big servers and big players that are grass-court specialists, so to say. So huge credit to him.”

Cobolli and Djokovic have met on just one previous occasion, with the latter storming to a 6-1 6-2 victory at the Shanghai Masters in 2024.
