ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Two people were injured in separate shootings early Tuesday morning in the city’s northeast side.

The first shooting happened on Parsells Avenue between Culver and Merchants roads about 15 minutes after midnight. Rochester Police found a 16-year-old boy with a lower-body gunshot wound. An ambulance took him to the hospital and he is expected to survive. News10NBC’s photojournalist saw officers close the area with yellow tape.

Just blocks away, a 24-year-old man was shot on Melville Street off Webster Avenue. RPD responded after getting a ShotSpotter alert about half an hour after the first shooting. Officers learned that a private car took the victim to the hospital with a lower-body gunshot wound. He is expected to survive. News10NBC’s photojournalist saw officers draw guns at one point during one point in the investigation.

RPD says no suspects are in custody in either shooting and there’s no evidence that they’re connected. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
