Air traffic experienced limited delays in some flight departures on Tuesday morning due to Cairo telecommunications building blaze, according to a recent statement from the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
The statement added that an approved emergency plan was immediately activated to ensure continued operations, with coordination underway to allow all flights to depart without any cancellations.
Dr. Sameh El-Hefny, the Minister of Civil Aviation, is closely monitoring the situation from within the Crisis Management Center at Cairo International Airport, coordinating with EgyptAir’s Integrated Operations Center, the statement noted.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation and its affiliated companies affirmed their full commitment to maintaining smooth operational flow and continuously working to avoid any impacts that might arise from such emergency situations.
Most affected flights are being rerouted via alternative paths, with the exception of a limited number of international flights for which similar alternative operational procedures are currently being coordinated with their respective airports.
