Bo Nix is a top-10 fantasy QB going into the 2025 season.
That, for the most part, isn’t even up for debate.
Even after the slow start to his rookie season, Nix ended as the QB9 in fantasy football last year. And he’s primed to take a leap this season.
Bo Nix is a top-10 fantasy QB this season
According to Fantasy Pros, ESPN, Yahoo! Sports, Pro Football Focus, and CBS, Bo Nix is a top-10 fantasy QB, coming in at QB8 for most of those sites. Only PFF had him lower than 8 at 10 overall.
That means, for the first time in a decade, Denver Broncos fans can comfortably draft their team’s quarterback to their own fantasy team. Of course, if you’re in a league with multiple Broncos fans, it may still be difficult to land him.
It seems the world is waking up to what Nix brings to the football field and what he did in Denver last year. Broncos fans know he is a gun-slinger who makes something out of nothing on a regular basis. He can escape the pocket to connect with a receiver late in the play. Or, simply tuck it and take off for gashing gains.
After a slow start to his rookie season, which was marred by interceptions, Nix was the sixth highest-scoring fantasy quarterback in points per game the rest of the season. That, according to Derek Brown of Fantasy Pros. Brown also added he believes Nix could jump into the top-5 among fantasy QBs this season.
That’s because the Broncos loaded up on offensive playmakers this offseason.
In the backfield, they drafted R.J. Harvey and then signed J.K. Dobbins in free agency. That Dobbins-Harvey one-two punch could resemble what the Detroit Lions built with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. Dobbins is currently at the top of his game, and is a definite red zone threat. Meanwhile, Harvey looks to have the explosive speed to take the ball the distance from anywhere on the field.
The addition of those two backs is both a blessing and a curse for Nix’s fantasy points. Some of his running yards and touchdowns will likely go away this year, but those playmakers should help the Broncos sustain longer drives and give him more red zone passing scores.
Evan Engram could be a game-changer for the Broncos
While the improved running game could take a few points away from Nix, Evan Engram at tight end should more than make up for those losses.
The Broncos haven’t had a dynamic tight end since 2021 with Noah Fant. And Nix had multiple backups playing with him last year in the Mile High City.
Now, he has a top-10 fantasy tight end with him in Engram. That’s where Fantasy Pros ranks him, and Brown says of the new Broncos tight end, “Engram’s best competition for targets is Courtland Sutton. Engram could lead Denver in targets this season. If that happens, he’ll likely be knocking on the door of the top 3-5 tight ends in 2025.”
For quarterbacks to go from good to great, they need a dynamic tight end to create matchup nightmares in the middle of the field. Not only will he be a valuable target, all the attention on him will take cornerbacks away from some of the Broncos receivers, too.
In his last healthy season, in 2023, Engram had career-highs with 114 receptions for 963 yards. And when he was shut down early due to an injured shoulder last year, he was on pace for 89 receptions for 689 yards. In Sean Payton’s offense, he’s more likely to top the century mark and come close to 1,000 yards receiving again this year.
