A new round of indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel has begun in the Qatari capital, Doha.
These negotiations aim to reach a comprehensive ceasefire agreement and the release of prisoners and hostages.
Hamas insists on clarifications on four key points, particularly complete withdrawal of Israel’s forces from Gaza, which the Israeli Prime Minister has deemed unacceptable.
Informed sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm that a high-level Egyptian security delegation is coordinating the indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel with the Qatari side.
A Palestinian official familiar with the progress of the talks revealed in press statements that the movement’s negotiating delegation, headed by Khalil al-Hayya, and the accompanying technical teams, expressed their willingness to conduct serious negotiations.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Saturday evening that he had ordered to send an Israeli negotiating team to Qatar to conduct indirect talks, despite viewing Hamas’s latest demands as “unacceptable”.
War continues
Israel’s military operations continue on in Gaza, committing new massacres against displaced civilians in the strip.
This comes at a time when the Israeli political arena is witnessing severe tensions regarding the upcoming ceasefire negotiations.
Medical sources within Gaza Strip hospitals reported that 38 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes since the early hours of the morning, with 29 killed in Gaza City alone.
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz acknowledged a difficult day in Gaza after the army admitted that two soldiers were killed and two others were seriously injured after being targeted by an anti-tank missile in the Khan Yunis area.
The families of the Israeli hostages renewed their appeal to the US president to exert all possible pressure to complete the negotiations and reach a comprehensive deal that would return all prisoners from Gaza at once.
They urged him not to allow what they called “the forces of evil” in Israel to continue the war and obstruct efforts to conclude a prisoner exchange deal.
