Collider reported that Isaacs, who famously played Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter film franchise, shared he is unhappy with online comments about Essiedu being cast as Snape while on a panel at FanExpo Denver. Isaacs described the criticism as being racist towards Essiedu. As fans are aware, Snape was originated by late actor, Alan Rickman.
In addition, Isaacs said that "all the cast of the new Harry Potter TV series are amazing," specifically Paapa, who has appeared in acclaimed series, like May I Destroy You and Black Mirror.
Isaacs also said he believed fans of the Harry Potter films will enjoy the new series.
Several characters have been cast for the new Harry Potter series. For instance, the titular character, originally played by Daniel Radcliffe, will be portrayed by Dominic McLaughlin, as reported by Variety. The publication reported that Harry's best friends and fellow Gryffindors, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, will be played by Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton.
“After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It’s been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there,” read the June 9 statement.
