Phoenix Brophy Prep wide receiver Devin Fitzgerald, the son of Arizona Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald, committed to Notre Dame as a three-star wide receiver in the 2026 class on Saturday.
Devin is the No. 453 overall prospect in 2026 and No. 72 wide receiver, per 247Sports’ composite ranking.
He had 52 receptions for 720 yards and nine touchdowns over 13 games as Brophy earned the No. 1 seed in the state 6A bracket and reached the semifinals in 2024.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Fitzgerald was described by 247’s Greg Biggins as a “legitimate high major, NFL prospect in his own right and has the tools to be an immediate impact player at the next level as well.”

Fitzgerald was offered by Kenny Dillingham and the Sun Devils in January, prompting a kind message from the young receiver’s father about how Dillingham has turned ASU around.
“Obviously ASU is a program that’s truly on the rise,” Fitzgerald told Arizona Sports’ Tyler Drake at the WM Phoenix Open Annexus Pro-Am. “Coach Dillingham is one of the best coaches in all of football in terms of developing players and really galvanizing the community here and the Valley.”
Dillingham mentioned soon after Fitzgerald was someone he was a huge fan of when growing up as a football fan in the Valley but was unable to speak on Devin specifically because of NCAA rules.
“That’s pretty cool to hear that from somebody who I, as a fan, grew up watching at home on Sundays to see how he did it in such a professional manner … in such a respectful way, not just on the football field,” Dillingham said on a February Zoom call with reporters.
“When you think about Fitzgerald, yeah, you think about how good he was at football, but I think what people remember is just how good of a person he was. They remember him as Larry Fitzgerald. Man, that dude was so cool when I met him. That dude was smart. That dude’s involved in the community. There’s so much more depth to Larry than, you know, the football player Larry. And I think that’s what separates him and that’s what makes him the legend he is today in this community.”
The kind exchange did not bear fruit, as ASU was not included in Devin’s final four choices that included Stanford, UCLA and Clemson in addition to the Fighting Irish.
It represented a missed opportunity for the rising program, which lost another 2026 wide receiver target in four-star Kaydon Finley to the Irish over the weekend.
Finley, the son of former Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley, was circled by ASU QB-commit Jake Fette as an important target he was trying to bring with him.
Previous wide receiver commit Nalin Scott also flipped to Nebraska in recent weeks, leaving ASU’s 2026 receiver class less promising than it initially appeared.
