At least 11 people were wounded in separate shootings during the July 4th weekend in Chicago, police said.
The first incident was reported at approximately 11:11 p.m. Friday in the 4800 block of South Justine in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. In that shooting, two suspects approached a crowd of people and opened fire, police said.
The following victims were injured in the shooting:
A 27-year-old woman was shot in the left leg and listed in serious condition. A 21-year-old woman was shot in the right thigh and reported to be in serious condition. A 21-year-old man was shot in the right quad and right foot and said to be in serious condition. A 29-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm and was listed in serious condition. A 25-year-old woman was shot in the left flank and reported to be in serious condition. A 25-year-old woman was shot in the right buttocks and hospitalized in critical condition. A 42-year-old man was shot in the left calf and listed in critical condition.No arrests in the incident had been made as of Saturday afternoon. Detectives were investigating.
The second shooting was reported less than three hours later in the city’s Marshall Square neighborhood. At approximately 1:46 a.m., four people were shot by multiple suspects who drove past in a dark-colored SUV.
The victims were sitting inside a parked vehicle at the time, police said.
The following injuries were reported:
A 32-year-old man was shot multiple times and listed in critical condition. A 26-year-old man sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was reported to be in good condition. A 25-year-old man sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was said to be in critical condition. A 33-year-old man was shot in the right leg and listed in fair condition.No one was in custody as detectives continued to investigate Saturday afternoon.
