Kelly Clarkson has pulled the plug on her Las Vegas residency at the 11th hour, postponing the opening until a later date in order to protect her voice.
The “Since U Been Gone” singer, 43, made the announcement with a statement shared via her Instagram account on Friday, July 4.
“We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans,” Clarkson explained in the statement. “I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars. The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice.”
continued: “I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve. The show is truly incredible. The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong. I can’t wait to be back next weekend and show y’all what we’ve been working on.”

Clarkson was due to commence her “Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions – The Las Vegas Residency” at Caesars Palace on Friday, July 4. A total of 18 performances were scheduled until November 15.
The announcement drew mixed reactions from her social media followers, with some voicing concern for her health while others expressed their disappointment at the last-minute notice.

Echoing a similar sentiment, another follower commented, “I wish you would’ve done this sooner than 15 mins before doors opening. I hope you feel better.”
The Vegas residency was first announced back in February via a press release.
“I’m so excited to be back in Vegas!” Clarkson said via a statement at the time. “We’re bringing the studio to the stage this time with ‘Studio Sessions!’ See y’all there!”
