Community needed facts about Medicaid cuts
We would like to thank Greeley-Weld Indivisible for hosting a panel discussion to help inform the public about proposed Medicaid cuts on June 28. We were disappointed by state Sen. Barbara Kirkmeyer’s decision to dominate the end of the Q & A period with her political lecture devoid of facts or figures, despite holding seats on both the Joint Budget and Health and Human Services Committees.
Sen. Kirkmeyer stated that Medicaid was already flawed (sure), and blamed rampant waste and fraud on “illegal” immigrants. Leaving aside the fact that the panel was not about immigrants or a defense of the system, but rather meant to provide helpful information and resources for Medicaid recipients and their loved ones, we’d like to share some facts.
Undocumented is not the same as illegal; it includes those who entered the country with permission but subsequently stayed beyond the authorized period of stay. Undocumented immigrants paid federal, state and local taxes of $8,889 per person in 2022, including $6.4 billion in Medicare taxes (itep.org). The majority of Medicaid recipients (43.1%) were white, and 47.3% of enrollees were under the age of 21 (Medicaid.gov). For Colorado-centric stats, visit hcpf.colorado.gov.
For many working families, Medicaid supplements extra services that aren’t covered by their private insurance. And most undocumented immigrants don’t qualify for the Medicaid services they pay into (kff.com).
Sen. Kirkmeyer stated that she didn’t understand “what the big deal was,” so we hope that by sharing these resources, she can begin to understand how much Medicaid cuts will take away services from people in need (11.7 million+). Her comments on June 28 were an unsophisticated use of racial fear to distract us from our economic realities and turn people against each other. Everyone’s health care is at risk thanks to HR1.

America needs a Holy Spirit revival
America really celebrates freedom July 4!
Whereever there are Americans, they are celebrating liberty! No other nation can celebrate like us! Independence from the oppression and unfair taxes of England and freedom from the devil! Because we were founded as a Christian nation upon Biblical principles, we enjoy freedoms like no other country. Our Constitution and Bill of Rights was based upon concepts from the Holy Bible.
Because of that, America supports Israel. Thank Almighty God, we just defeated, again, America’s and Israel’s enemies in a huge historic way! Thanks to our amazing, committed, dedicated, brave and awesome military and their praying, wonderful, loving families.
But we still have to stay alert. We are all on a battleship (no more cruising!) and we all have to fight for liberty and to stay free.
So why aren’t more people free? Because we took prayer and the holy Bible out of our schools and most churches! Therefore, we are losing our freedoms!
Many pastors are in bondage to pleasing people, afraid to offend people and losing money; they don’t preach all the truth. Jesus Is the only way home to Heaven. You must be born again. Therefore, we have people sitting at home, bars and ballgames, lost. Violence has filled our land. We’re having to pay for security, everywhere. Still no safe place!
Most pastors aren’t filled with the Holy Spirit, like Jesus told us all to be filled. They are afraid to lose control and allow the Holy Spirit, freedom, in their one-hour controlled service! So, we have weak Christians afraid to be bold witnesses for Jesus, run for school and government offices and demand free Good News Clubs for elementary and middle schools and free bibleinschools.net for high schools. Jesus, have mercy! Send a Holy Spirit revival now!
David Meek, Greeley
