The Coventry South MP, who had the Labour whip removed last year for rebelling against the Government, has claimed she and former Labour leader Corbyn would be its co-leaders.
However, Sunday Times Whitehall editor Gabriel Pogrund has reported Corbyn has not yet agreed to join and is “furious and bewildered” over the launch without being consulted.
Last year, Sultana was among seven Labour MPs, including former shadow chancellor John McDonnell, suspended from the Labour Party for defying the Government over its two-child benefit cap.

Four of the suspended MPs had the whip restored earlier this year, but Sultana and McDonnell have continued to sit as independents.
In her announcement on Thursday, Sultana wrote she was “suspended by the Labour Party for voting to abolish the two-child benefit cap and lift 400,000 children out of poverty. I’d do it again”, suggesting the policy would form part of the new party’s policies.
Winter fuel payments reinstated for all pensioners
Coventry South’s MP also spoke out about winter fuel payments in her announcement about her quitting Labour to form a new party, saying: “I voted against scrapping winter fuel payments for pensioners. I’d do it again.”

The Government has faced pressure to settle the future of winter fuel payments after last year’s decision to restrict the benefit sparked widespread criticism.
After the general election in July 2024, Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced they would be limited to pensioners in receipt of pension credit, meaning the numbers eligible would fall from 11 million to 1.3 million.
Days after Labour’s general election win last year, Sultana backed a one per cent wealth tax on the rich, saying the levy on assets over £10mn would raise £12bn.
In October, she was among 30 cross-party MPs and peers who wrote to the Chancellor demanding a new two per cent tax on assets worth more than £10m, which they claimed could raise £24bn a year.
Suspend all arms sales to Israel
Sultana is an outspoken critic of the Israeli government and its military action in Gaza and has urged the Government to “stop enabling Israeli war crimes”.
She has also spoken out against supplying components of F-35 fighter jets to a global pool which Israel can access. The High Court has ruled the export of the British-made spare parts is legal.
Addressing David Lammy, she said: “I have to ask the Foreign Secretary, ‘how do you sleep at night?”
In her statement on Thursday announcing the formation of a new party, she said the Government was “an active participant in genocide”.

Her stringent views on the Israel-Gaza conflict are well documented, and she has often called for a “free Palestine” both on social media and at public rallies.
In a speech last October, the MP said: “We will speak up until the occupation ends, the siege is lifted, food and water flow back in, and schools and universities are rebuilt.”
