The low-cost carrier will expand its basic fare “personal bag” limit to 40 x 30 x 20cm, offering a total volume of 24 litres (its current allowance is 40 x 25 x 20cm, 20 litres).
It added: “This change will be implemented over the coming weeks, as our airport bag sizers are adjusted.”

“All A4E airlines will roll out the guaranteed dimensions and have them in place by the end of the 2025 summer season,” said the A4E statement.
“This will align A4E members with the decision of member states made last month and bring more clarity to passengers across Europe,” said Ourania Georgoutsakou, managing director of A4E.
What about Europe’s two-bag ruling?
Airlines oppose a vote by MEPs to implement an EU right for all passengers to take one personal item and one small piece of hand luggage onboard, without charge.
Carriers claim this allowance would be unworkable and unfair. Standardising the minimum personal item size among A4E members could help to persuade the EU not to introduce a two-cabin-bag per passenger minimum limit for airlines.
Which bags can I take on a Ryanair flight when the allowance increases?
The new limit will effectively increase the depth of a bag by just 5cm, taking it to the same as the Wizz Air’s “free” carry-on bag size. Those who have an easyJet-compatible small cabin bag (up to 45 x 36 x 20cm/32 litres) will need to use smaller baggage to meet Ryanair’s updated allowance, however.
