England cricket icon and talkSPORT commentator Darren Gough couldn’t help but laugh when Brydon Carse copied his signature move.
The former England bowler once stuck his tongue out when he was running up to bowl against the West Indies, and Carse elected to do the same during the second Test against India.
Carse chose to copy GoughSky SportsCarse had been irritated by India captain Shubman Gill during the previous delivery.
The Durham fast bowler ran in and stuck his left arm out, which caused Gill to withdraw from the crease.
Gill had a chat with the umpires while Ben Stokes and Carse exchanged a few words with the batter.
On the following ball, the South Africa-born star charged in, stuck his tongue out and thought he’d got Gill out LBW.
He didn’t even look at the umpire as he charged off just assuming he got his man only to turn around and realise that wasn’t the case.
Stokes called for a review, and the technology showed that Gill had hit the ball into his pads, so he survived.
Gough was then shown the clip on talkSPORTS’s overseas coverage of the second Test.
Showing him the clip, talkSPORT’s cricket correspondent Jon Norman said: “I am not sure if you saw it, but Brydon Carse did a Goughy.”
In response, Gough said: “What? Reverse-swing?
“Ohhhhhh, he stuck his tongue out. Did he? Copycat. I did it better.”

Norman then explained what caused Carse to emulate Gough.
“The over when England went up for leg-before-wicket against Gill; the ball before, Carse ran in and stuck his left arm out.
“So, Gill backed away. Stokes had a word. Carse had a word and Gill spoke to the umpires.
“So, Gill goes back to his mark. The very next ball, Carse runs in, and he does the old Goughy.”
Gough in response couldn’t help but laugh: “Brilliant. Well done, Brydon.
“It was a good delivery as well, so it [sticking his tongue out] didn’t put him off.
Carse looks to have the attributes to be useful for England“Do you remember who I bowled it to? It was against the West Indies, and it was Ridley Jacobs, and he played and missed, so he wasn’t too happy with me.”
At the time of the incident, former teammate and talkSPORT regular Steve Harmison had his say on the Carse incident.
He said: “We should have Goughy on here because can you remember all those years ago when he pulled a funny face?
“Carse as he’s running in there, threw his left arm out sideways to put Gill off.”
And on that incident, Harmison doesn’t think Gill did anything wrong.
“I have no problem with that.”
Carse has been working hard for EnglandSky SportsAfter making history in the first Test, England won the toss at Edgbaston and elected to bowl first again.
Carse claimed the wicket of Karun Nair while Chris Woakes managed to get KL Rahul to smash the ball into his own stumps.
Stokes then managed to nab Yashasvi Jaiswal before Rishabh Pant spooned one into the air for Zak Crawley to grab.
Woakes has since bowled Nittish Reddy but it’s advantage India at stumps as they finish the day on 310-5 with Shubman Gill on an unbeaten 114.
