Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has constituted a team of four senior OAS officers to assist in the detailed enquiry into the tragic stampede incident at the Gundicha Temple in Puri that occurred on June 29, 2025.
As per an office order issued by the General Administration & Public Grievance Department, the team will support the Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary in conducting the probe.
The officers named in the enquiry team include Manas Ranjan Samal, Joint Director of Estates and Additional Secretary in the GA & PG Department; Binaya Kumar Dash, Additional Secretary to Government in the Housing & Urban Development Department, who is currently deployed in Puri until July 8, 2025; Rashmi Ranjan Nayak, Additional Secretary to Government in the Water Resources Department; and Pradip Kumar Sahoo – A, Additional Secretary to Government in the Works Department, who is also stationed in Puri until July 8.
These officers will carry out their enquiry responsibilities in addition to their regular duties. They have been directed to be present at the office of the Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary, Planning & Convergence Department, for approximately two hours daily—from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM—to assist in the enquiry process.
Notably, three persons were killed and more than 50 were injured in a stampede at Saradhabali, just outside Gundicha Temple last Sunday.
