“F1” (2025) starring Hollywood star Brad Pitt had a strong start at the box office, grossing US$ 88.4 million internationally and $144 million worldwide over its three-day run.
The film raked $55.6 million outside the US and Canada, with the UK being the top-grossing market with $9.2 million, followed by China with nine million dollars, and Mexico with $6.7 million, according to Variety.
Although the film’s production budget is around $250 million, in addition to a massive marketing campaign, it will need more sales to break even and generate profits.
It is expected to surpass Napoleon’s $221 million worldwide.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski and co-written with Ehren Kruger, F1 is a thrilling story set in the world of Formula 1 racing. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and former Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, the film stars Brad Pitt as a veteran racing driver who returns to the track after a 30-year absence.
The story begins when a retired driver is asked by his old friend and former teammate, who has become the owner of the struggling APXGP racing team, to return to help save the team from collapse.
The veteran driver joins a promising and driven young man (played by Damson Idris) to form a new team, and tensions quickly arise between them, reflecting a clash of generations.
