CAITLIN Clark has made her second All-Star game in her second WNBA season, but didn’t get much help from her peers.
Clark got the most fan votes of any player, but fellow WNBA stars don’t hold her in the same light.
APCaitlin Clark was snubbed by WNBA players in All-Star voting[/caption] GettyClark was ranked as the No. 9 guard in the WNBA by her peers[/caption]While Clark pulled in 1,293,526 votes from fans, her peers only ranked her as the No. 9 guard in the league.
Meanwhile, the media ranked Clark as the No. 3 guard in the league.
Because she was ranked so low by players, she fell to No. 2 among guards based on the WNBA’s All-Star voting system.
The system scores a player based on where they ranked in the fan ranking, media ranking, and player ranking.
Fan ranking accounts for 50 percent of the score, media ranking for 25 percent, and player ranking for 25 percent.
That weighting combines all of the rankings into a weighted score.
Clark’s weighted score was 3.5, tied with New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu.
Ionescu was ranked No. 5 by fans, No. 2 by the media, and No. 2 by the players.
The first-place guard was rookie Paige Bueckers, who was ranked No. 2 by fans, No. 5 by the media, and No. 4 by the players.
Her weighted score came out to be 3.25.
Clark’s ranking baffled WNBA viewers and media members after it was announced.
The 2024 No. 1 overall pick, Rookie of the Year, All-Star, and All-WNBA selection was ranked behind names like Brittney Sykes, Natasha Cloud, Kelsey Mitchell, and others who didn’t even make the All-Star game.
“The players voted Caitlin Clark the 9th BEST GUARD?!?! Stop hating,” Robert Griffin III posted on X.
“Absolutely PURE JEALOUSY that @WNBA players voted Caitlin Clark the 9th best guard,” Dick Vitale posted.
