The Weld RE-4 School District has announced changes to school start and end times for the 2025-26 school year.
The addition of Ridgeline Middle School led to boundary changes at the middle school level and adjustments to school bus routes, resulting in a need for new bell schedules at elementary, middle and high schools, according to a Weld RE-4 news release.
Elementary students will have a 7:30 a.m. start time and 2:20 p.m. end time, formerly a 7:55 a.m. start and 2:50 p.m. end.
Middle school students will start at 8:30 a.m. and end at 3:20 p.m., altered from an 8:35 a.m. to 3:55 p.m. schedule.
High school has a new schedule from 8:55 a.m. to 4:05 p.m., previously 8:40 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.
Weld RE-4 staff analyzed more than a dozen scenarios of new school hours, particularly the impact modifications would have on school operations, students and families, the release said. The district determined the new bell schedule would have the “greatest benefit to students” with the least impact on length of routes, budget, instructional calendar, route start and end times, child care and athletics and activities.
The alterations to start and end times may also provide more availability for activity or athletic drivers to reduce the amount of time students spend out of class for trips.
The school website will update schedules when offices open July 7, according to the release. Students who qualify for transportation services will receive a new route time from the transportation department during the week of Aug. 11.
