Harry Kane’s ridiculous 2024/25 season has continued after bringing up his 40th goal of the campaign.
The Englishman scored to put Bayern Munich 2-0 up in the ninth minute at the Hard Rock Stadium in their last-16 Club World Cup tie against Flamengo.

He then drove towards the box where he found the bottom left corner with a deflected strike from distance.
In doing so, he has managed to score 40 times or more in consecutive campaigns for the first time in his career.
If that wasn’t impressive enough, the 31-year-old is the first Englishman in the history of the professional game to score 40 plus goals in successive seasons.
Other England icons to have achieved the 40-goal mark in a single season include Gary Lineker in 1985/86, Clive Allen in 1987/88 and Andy Cole during the 1993/94 campaign.
Meanwhile Jimmy Greaves, Dixie Dean, Dave Haliday and Vic Watson were the only men to do it twice along with Kane to have reached the total in two seasons.
But Kane now holds the record on his own having done so three times, after he hit 41 for Tottenham Hotspur in the 2017/18 term.
Things got better for Kane in the 73rd minute after he slotted home in the bottom right corner to make it 4-2 to Bayern.
And with that, came another Club World Cup record.
He is now England’s joint top scorer in the history of the competition alongside Manchester City’s Phil Foden and Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney with three strikes.

His dazzling displays also saw him named as the Bundesliga Player of the Season.
And he will be hoping for more joy at the Club World Cup should Bayern book their place in the quarter-finals.
Should Bayern emerge victorious over Flamengo, they will face Paris Saint-Germain in the next round.
