Floyd Schofield made a big statement on the Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr undercard.

The 22-year-old from New Jersey blasted away former IBF super featherweight champion Tevin Farmer inside 78 seconds of the first round to prove that he is the real deal.

Schofield proved too much for FarmerGETTY

Farmer was coming off a pair of close encounters with top-rated contender William Zepeda, and looked to be Schofield’s toughest test on paper up to this point.

However, he proved no match for the youngster who came flying out of the gates from the opening bell to deck his adversary with a sharp right hook after 35 seconds.

Farmer was back on his feet quickly, but Schofield was all over him like a rash when the referee resumed the action.

Moments later, Farmer was sent tumbling to the canvas courtesy of a clubbing left hook, and although he was able to regain his footing again, he was subsequently overwhelmed by a four-punch combination from Schofield that prompted the referee to wave off the contest.

It marked Farmer’s first stoppage loss since defeat to Jose Pedraza in 2012.

Schofield climbs to 19-0, while Farmer falls to 33-9-1.

‘Kid Austin’ puts a frustrating start to 2025 behind him in victory.

He was due to square off against Stevenson in February; however, the bout was cancelled four days before they were set to share the ring together after ‘Kid Austin’ came down with a viral infection.

Schofield’s father claimed his son had been ‘poisoned’, although he later retracted the statement.

“It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders,” Schofield said in the immediate aftermath of his career-best victory at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

“I’ve been doubted ever since what happened in February, and a lot of people didn’t think I’d win this fight. It’s a lot of emotion.

“After what happened in February, I was depressed, and I wanted to quit boxing and not be here.

“Reading the comments got to me at one point, but my baby boy kept me afloat, kept me pushing.”

Schofield then sent a message to Stevenson ahead of his upcoming WBC lightweight title defence against Zepeda on July 12.

“Shakur, you better focus on what you’ve got coming up in July because Zepeda’s coming.”
