A magnificent three-day festival at the Curragh comes to a close on Sunday including the feature race of the weekend, the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby.
That contest is the only Group 1 action on the card, with a pair of Listed contests and several competitive handicaps also on show.
There are nine races in all at the Curragh on Sunday and we have selected our best bets.

Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby tips
13:15 – Dubai Duty Free Handicap (1m1f)
First-time blinkers brought about significant improvement for MISSISSIPPI RIVER when he bolted up in a 1m rated race at Naas 10 days ago. Ryan Moore is back aboard now and although he disappointed on his last handicap outing, he should make amends.

13:50 – Dubai Duty Free Derby Festival Handicap (1m)
Bidding for a hat-trick, LOVE BILLY BOY looks the answer here. He followed up his 6f Naas victory with a win at Leopardstown from an unchanged mark a week later over an extended 7f. The handicapper has put him up 6lb, which is fair, and he should go close.

14:25 – Jebel Ali Racecourse & Stables Dash Stakes (Listed, 6f)
Last year’s winner MY MATE ALFIE showed class when landing a course-and-distance handicap off a mark of 107 in September, following up with another 6f Curragh success in a Group 3 on his next start. He chased home the progressive Two Stars at Naas on his return and was close up in fifth in a Group 2 at this track on his latest run.

14:55 – Colm McLoughlin Celebration Stakes (Listed, 1m)
FIERY LUCY was a Fairyhouse maiden winner over 6f who ran well several times in classy company last year, including when fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies’ Turf. She was a good third at Musselburgh on her latest run and should be in the mix.

15:30 – Dubai Duty Free Rockingham Handicap (5f)
THE HIGHWAY RAT needs things to fall right but he was back to his best when winning a Navan handicap off 94 last month. He’s now 5lb higher but has raced from marks in the 100s before and should go well.

16:10 – Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby (Group 1, 1m4f)
It looks set to be another Aidan O’Brien winner in the Irish Derby and LAMBOURN can follow up his Epsom Derby win in style. The front-runner is likely to go off in front again and it will be a surprise if he is caught.

16:50 – Tulfarris Hotel And Golf Resort Irish EBF Ragusa Handicap (7f)
A competitive handicap can go the way of CLOUD SEEKER, who had a couple of these behind when narrowly beaten over 1m2f at the Curragh last time out. He has gone up another 3lb but should be bang there.

17:20 – GAIN Summer Fillies & Mares Handicap (7f)
MATAARIKI won impressively over 7f at Gowran on her return and has been far from disgraced in Listed and Group contests since. A return to handicap company should suit her.

16:50 – Dubai Duty Free Irish EBF Stayers Handicap (2m)
GOLDEN TEMPLE won this race last year and looked in need of the run after a break when tailed off at Ballinrobe over hurdles last month. This race has probably been the plan.
