Buckingham Palace has mocked the stars of Made in Chelsea for breaking a longstanding royal protocol against filming on the premises.
British reality stars Jamie Laing and Sophie “Habbs” Habboo used their attendance at the King’s Trust Awards gala, alongside the likes of George and Amal Clooney, on Wednesday, June 25, to hop on a viral trend started by King Charles III’s daughter-in-law Meghan Markle.
Earlier this month, Meghan, 43, racked up more than 50 million views via Instagram for a celebratory post in honor of her daughter Princess Lilibet’s birthday. The Duchess of Sussex shared a video of the “Baby Mama” dance she performed in the hospital shortly before the child’s arrival.
Laing and Habboo replicated the viral moment on the Grand Staircase at Buckingham Palace before posting it via their social media. Laing seemingly knew he was breaking a major palace rule, as he captioned the clip: “They said we couldn’t film in Buckingham Palace… @sophiehabboo @kingstrust.”

Buckingham Palace reacted to the broken rule with a tongue-in-cheek reply: “We see you .”
The King’s Trust — the charitable organization founded by Charles in 1976 — also teased the couple for their mischievous behavior at its annual awards gala.
“All of our attendees are very well behaved ,” the organization replied to Laing via Instagram.
The Royal Collection Trust has traditionally enforced tight restrictions on visitors filming inside the Windsor residences. The group says that, in general, “location and reality filming are not permitted at the official royal residences” and requests those interested in filming their properties to first apply for a permit.
Aside from their viral clip, Habboo did share an authorized photo from her meeting with Charles to mark the special occasion.

Laing and Habboo announced on BBC Radio 1 on June 3 that they are expecting their first child together.
“We’re having a baby,” they told their listeners in unison.
Laing then revealed, “When we first found out, I was gaming. It was on the weekend … and you [Habboo] were acting a bit shifty and then you came over to me and you were crying. I thought I had done something terribly wrong, which is normally the case! You said to me, ‘We’re pregnant!’”

The reality stars tied the knot in a private ceremony in London in April 2023 before throwing a massive wedding bash for their family and friends in Marbella, Spain, the following month. (The pair got together after Habboo had a brief romance with Laing’s close friend Sam Thompson on Made in Chelsea. The Channel 4 reality show has followed a group of young West London socialites since 2011.)
Meanwhile, Meghan opened up about the unexpected viral success of her “Baby Mama” dance during an appearance on the “Aspire With Emma Grede” podcast on June 17. Meghan suggested the Instagram post was such a hit because it showed her and husband Prince Harry’s “authentic” lifestyle.
“That was four years ago,” she explained. “So it’s also a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there’s still a whole life — a real, authentic, fun life — that’s happening behind the scenes.”
She went on, “I’m just grateful that now, being back on social as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms.”
