Al Cox and Rex Strickland have announced their appointment as Lincoln-Mercury dealers for Mendocino and Lake Counties. The new agency will be known as Empire Motors, Inc., and will move into temporary quarters at 745 North State Street the end of this month. The permanent location will be a new structure to be erected on the North Highway.

At present, Cox and Strickland are handling the new car agency from their 101 Car Market at 533 North State Street. This lot, along with their used car lot at 1130 North State, both established in November, 1955, will continue to be operated in addition to Empire Motors.

In the first five days in business as Lincoln-Mercury dealers, they have sold five Mercurys and have now set their sights on 30 sales in 30 days. Al Cox is a veteran of 10 years in the automobile business in Ukiah. Rex Strickland has been selling cars here for three years.

C.H. “Mac” McKinna, sales-manager of the organization, has been selling in Ukiah for seven years, salesmen Paul Hatton, 2 1/2 years, Jack Hitt 3 years, Hank Boesel 1 1/2 years, and Tom Lynch 5 years. Grand opening at their temporary quarters at 745 N. State is scheduled for June 29.
