ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A judge has sentenced a teenager for shooting and killing a 15-year-old during a home invasion on Alphonse Street on the city’s northeast side.
Raymere Alexander, 17, will spend 15 years to life in prison. He was convicted of second-degree murder in the death of Suade McKnight in February of 2023.
Rochester Police say Alexander and another suspect, 19-year-old Brandon Williams, broke into the home and shot McKnight in the head. News10NBC spoke with the victim’s family outside the courtroom.
“The sentence could be different, but I am happy with the decision the judge made. And again, I’m never going to see my son again, so either way, this is justice,” said Brittney, the victim’s mother. “As a family, we have to continue to try to pick up the pieces, we have to try and heal.”
Williams previously pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter. Alexander was sentenced on Friday morning in Monroe County Court.
