Gone are the days that a Wimbledon match will last for over 11 hours.

SW19 fans have been used to lengthy matches in recent times, with John Isner and Nicolas Mahut famously playing a record-breaking marathon in 2010.

But in 2022, tournament organisers confirmed tie-breaks will decide the winners at Wimbledon after six games all in final sets.

The first match under the new guidelines saw 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams fall to a first-round defeat to Harmony Tan in 2022.

What are the tie-break rules at Wimbledon?

Previously, Grand Slam final sets continued indefinitely until one player won by two clear games.

That led to the three-day marathon that eventually saw Isner overcome Mahut by winning the final set 70 games to 68.

But instead, a 10-point tie break has been introduced to decide all final sets that reach six games all.

A player must win the tie break by two clear points to win, meaning it can go on for an indefinite amount of time.
