The Phoenix Mercury have waived guard Megan McConnell to make room on their roster for new addition Kiana Williams.
McConnell sustained a tibial plateau fracture in her right knee on May 30 and was waived by the team after imaging confirmed the injury. The Mercury will still be working with McConnell through her rehab process.

The Mercury also announced that guard Lexi Held has been diagnosed with a lung injury which happened during the team’s game against New York on June 19. The team announced she is making progress in her recovery and her timeline for return is to be determined.
Mercury sign guard Kiana Williams
Williams has played in 27 games across her three seasons in the WNBA. She averaged 0.8 points per game on 3.5 minutes in 13 contests with the Seattle Storm last season.
Williams was selected 18th overall in the 2021 WNBA Draft out of Stanford. She was a major part of the national championship winning Cardinal program averaging 14 points per game as a senior that season and served as the leading scorer on that team which featured WNBA players Cameron Brink and Lexie Hull.
