"I feel like time has actually really started to slow down the older I get," Theron, 49, told People in an interview published on Thursday, June 26. "In my 20s, it was going so fast, and I was in such a rush, and now I feel like … I'm not."
"From my 40s on to now, I've just felt like I have a better understanding of balance," Theron continued. "I am still struggling with it, but I don't fight it as much anymore. I can enjoy life a little more."
Fans have watched the Old Guard 2 actress grow and evolve during her decades as an actress. Despite having to age in the spotlight, Theron has said she's embraced her changing appearance.
Theron went on to admit that she has “always had issues” when it comes to the double standards of aging. She pointed out that society tends to praise men for aging "like fine wines," while women tend to bee seen as "cut flowers.”
“I despise that concept and I want to fight against it,” she said. “But I also think women want to age in a way that feels right to them. I think we need to be a little bit more empathetic to how we all go through our journey. My journey of having to see my face on a billboard is quite funny now.”
