JOY Taylor made the shocking claim that Angel Reese was the sole reason for Caitlin Clark’s rise to her current stardom.
The FS1 host made the argument that a certain moment involving Reese and Clark had a lot to do with the Indiana Fever star’s popularity.

The 38-year-old said Clark wouldn’t be the star she is today if it weren’t for Reese’s ring-finger celebration toward her during LSU’s title win over Iowa in 2023.
“We wouldn’t be talking about Caitlin Clark the way we do if it wasn’t that moment for Angel Reese,” Taylor argued.
“I will die on this hill.”
The cast of The Joe Budden Podcast was in shock over Taylor’s opinion.
Clark had already been dominating college basketball and a popular figure in women’s sports long before Reese made the gesture.
She had a breakout junior year with the Hawkeyes, breaking tournament records and leading the team to the 2023 national title game.
The matchup between Clark vs. Reese received 9.9 million viewers, the highest-ever for a women’s college basketball game at the time.
Fans reacted to Taylor’s controversial take on social media.
“Caitlin Clark was all over ESPN when she was still in college,” one wrote.
“She’s way off. It’s actually Angel Reese, who benefited from Caitlin‘s popularity,” another commented.
“Joy is wrong here,” a third said.
Taylor still thinks Clark’s talents didn’t grab the fans’ and media’s attention enough before the Reese ring-finger celebration moment.
“It’s crazy to me, every time I bring this up, they’re like ,’Angel’s not better. We would’ve been talking about her anyway.’ No the f*** you wouldn’t. You f***ing wouldn’t,” Taylor said.
“And the reason you wouldn’t is I do this every goddamn day. I know what we talk about on my show.

“… I know what I’m talking about.
“It’s not about saying that Angel’s better than Caitlin or that Caitlin wouldn’t be a great player.
“It’s principle storytelling. I’m not making this up.”
Clark’s Fever will face Reese’s Chicago Sky on July 27 on ABC at 3:00 pm ET.
