MCDONALD’S is officially dropping a beloved sweet treat from its menu as a key partnership comes to an end.
Much to the dismay of fans, the fast food giant will no longer offer Krispy Kreme doughnuts at its thousands of US locations as the two food giants end their collaboration.
The partnership is being dropped just one year following a nationwide rollout, and foodies have just days left to get their hands on the sweet deal.
The collaboration between the two companies saw Krispy Kreme doughnuts sold at 2,400 McDonald’s restaurants across the US.
While the iconic partnership was a success for the fast food giant and its franchisees, that was not the case for Krispy Kreme, according to McDonald’s USA’s chief marketing and customer experience officer Alyssa Buetikofer.
It “needed to be a profitable business model for Krispy Kreme as well,”she said.
As a result, Krispy Kreme will officially stop selling its doughnuts at McDonald’s locations on July 2, the companies revealed in a Tuesday press release.
