SAN JOSE — Two men were arrested June 11 on suspicion of carrying out a gang-motivated shooting, according to San Jose police.

Jacobo Guzman-Flores, a 20-year-old resident of San Jose, and an 18-year-old whose name was withheld because he was a juvenile at the time of the shooting, were arrested June 11, according to a news release Monday from the police department. They were arrested for allegedly carrying out an assault with a deadly weapon, unlawfully discharging a firearm and charges related to possessing firearms, police said.

Around 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 8, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of a shopping center on the 1300 block of South Winchester Boulevard, authorities said. The two suspects fired shots at two men who drove into the parking lot — with two civilians fleeing the gunshots as they walked through the lot. No one was injured in the shooting, police added.

The suspects fled the scene before police arrived, authorities said.

Police found in their investigation that the shooting was gang motivated, authorities said.

Guzman was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail and the juvenile was booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall.

While searching the suspects’ residences, officers found “numerous gang indicia,” police added. They also found a firearm with an “obliterated” serial number.
