ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Chief Operating Officer Pete Guelli has announced they will not be operating the Rochester Knighthawks as of June 30.
In a statement, Guelli says they have been “working closely,” with the National Lacrosse League and will continue to help the league as they “pursue new ownership opportunities.” He also said he hopes professional lacrosse can continue in Rochester.
The team was owned by Terry and Kim Pegula.
In a statement from the NLL, they say they are “actively engaging potential new ownership to ensure the long-term success of professional lacrosse in Rochester.”

— NLL (@NLL) June 23, 2025The Knighthawks first played as an expansion team in the NLL in 2020, as the original Knighthawks moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia.
They have played at Blue Cross Arena along with the Rochester Amerks, who just signed a five-year lease agreement with the arena, which will begin with the 2025-26 season.
Guelli says he knows the NLL “will work tirelessly to pursue the best path forward for the franchise,” and thanks all the fans for their support of the team.
