NASA orbiter spots crash site of Japanese moon lander

NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) represents a significant moment in contemporary lunar exploration. The images, captured shortly after the lander's catastrophic failure on June 5, 2025, reveal a dark smudge accompanied by a faint halo of disturbed lunar soil in the Mare Frigoris region . ispace Mission Control Center was unable to establish communications with the spacecraft. The team determined that Resilience had likely been lost, a conclusion that was firmed up a few hours later.
